Skype stops support for windows mobile

by Ruchira on April 16, 2010

Skype is not available for windows mobile now.  For me is disaster because I love windows mobile so much because its multitasking capability compared to junk iphone. My Samsung Blackjack II which is on windows mobile 6.1 can run 13 applications by default simultaneously

However few months ago Skype announced that they stopped supporting for skype on windows mobile versions.

“We’ve chosen to withdraw Skype Lite and Skype for Windows Mobile because we want to offer our new customers an improved mobile experience – much like the version that has proved so popular on the iPhone, and which is now available on Symbian phones. Our focus is on providing a rich user experience that allows you to enjoy free Skype-to-Skype and low cost calls as easily on the move as you do at your desktop. We felt that Skype Lite and Skype for Windows Mobile were not offering the best possible Skype experience.”

hah?

We felt that Skype Lite and Skype for Windows Mobile were not offering the best possible Skype experience.

This makes skype team looks like kids. Its like stopping support for Microsoft windows and starting to support for MAC OS. All new HTC Phones are equipped with Windows Mobile most of the time. And customers for windows mobile is growing everyday.

Please note that you can still work with your skype app already installed on your winmo or you can download skype Version 3 .cab app for windows mobile here- http://www.mobyware.net/get-software-669.html
However you can use free apps like Fring as an alternative. checkout www.fring.com
