Just another Paypal phishing attempt

paypal phish Just another Paypal phishing attemptWhen I was browsing through my new email account, I have saw the above email from Paypal saying my account is limited because of an identity issue? This email account is new and I didn’t used it much at all, And surprisingly this email was on my inbox not on the spam folder. I thought my Paypal account is limited and to verify that I opened up paypal.com on a new tab and logged in. And there was no limitations or whatsoever like said on the email. It didn’t took me much time to recognize that, this is indeed a phishing attempt. So this is what I found,

Real sender of the email is hon@hon.com and he/she has masked the address to intel.service@paypal.com, And returning path is also hon@hon.com. I have opened up the attachment and its a html page which looks like this  Continue reading

seismac Turn your Macbook or Macbook Pro in to a seismograph

See that seismograph above? That’s pretty accurate seismographic data generated directly from my Macbook Pro. How is that possible? Well I’m glad you asked. All Macbook’s and Macbook Pro’s ( Not latest SSD storage only models ) comes with a sensor called SMS “Sudden Motion Sensor” which is basically a accelerometer built in to your mac for detecting sudden accelerations, vibrations or drops. Its used to stop and park the hard drive heads instantly if one of those reasons occur, so it can prevent the hard drive head from touching the platters and likely scratching it when a impact occurs.  You can read more about SMS here on Apple’s knowledgebase

$15 dedicated servers from OVH

While most of VPS providers are trying hard to stay in the business with their sub $5 VPS plans, OVH which is the worlds biggest consumer data center located in France is now ( uh for sometime ) offering $15 a month dedicated servers.
